Big Mamma's Door play their brand of sexy 50s R'n'B, with a whole lot of professionalism and love for the blues… the music is just top notch…
Where: Ostreme Centre
When: Sunday 3rd May
Time: supporting the Sean Webster Blues Band, Big Mamma's Door will start their set at 8pm
It's amazing what can happen if you hang around a blues bar long enough! Of course, it isn't just any old blues bar we're talking about: it's Ain't Nothin' But in Soho, where on a good Monday night you can see just about the best musicians in London jamming together on stage.
And that's where Big Mamma's Door opened a chink, when Fiona McElroy (vocals), Mal Barclay (guitar), Joe Glossop (keys) and Big Andy Roberts thought about jamming on a more regular basis. Then the rockin' Rob Pokorny (drums) joined the equation, and finally Big Mamma's Door was open for business.
Fiona McElroy – vocals
Mal Barclay – guitar/vocals
Joe Glossop – keys
Andy Roberts – bass
Rob Pokorny – drums
“This is an engaging and highly energetic band... the audience was wowed by the sheer personality of Fiona as a performer, the artistry of Mal on guitar and the musical excellence of the rest of the band.” Bill Smith, Blues in Britain
“Excellent band... her smoky/laid-back voice does the risqué blues-with-soul stuff with a vengeance.” Ian McKenzie, Blues in the South
