Back by massive popular demand to open the festival, the Sean Webster Band is one of the most exciting and powerful bands on the blues and rock circuit, with a brilliant front man guitar vocalist.
Where: Festival Pavilion
When: Friday 30th April
Time: 7.30pm–8.45pm (followed by Maggie Bell/Dave Kelly & the British Blues Quartet, 9.15–11.30pm)
Sean Webster leads a 3-piece band with a great reputation, who since forming in 2003 have made great headway both in the UK and Europe. A big hit at the 2008 and 2009 Admiral Mumbles Mostly Jazz and Blues Festivals, they are back by popular acclaim to play the opening set at the 2010 festival.
Sean’s fine guitar playing combines a great number of influences including Albert Collins, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore and SRV, to name a few. His vocal style is of a rich, sexy tone with a low-end rumble, drawing comparisons with Joe Cocker, Bryan Adams and Jonny Lang.
'Britain’s leading blues magazine ‘Blues Matters!’ described the band’s debut album ‘Long Time Coming’ (2004) as “a real gem”, concluding that Sean was “… set for big stages with superb guitar work…”
Sean recorded a live session for the Paul Jones show on BBC Radio 2, which was aired in September 2006, enabling some 500,000 people to hear Sean’s music. He regularly has his music played on radio stations around the world, including Europe and North America. As well as performing various dates throughout the UK, the band have just returned from a very successful 5-week tour of America, taking in Chicago, Minnesota, Houston, Galvaston and Austin Texas.
