The Contenders

Out of the ashes of several Mumbles based bands rose "The Contenders", a rock and soul covers band who quickly established a reputation on the local party circuit for playing goodtime music that makes you want to get up and dance. The contenders are Huw Evans (Vocals), Nick Farren and Paul Whittaker (Guitars), Huw Browning (Bass) and John Shapton (Drums). So, if you like your jazz and blues with a twist, the Contenders feature an eclectic mix from punk to funk and classic British blues rock to some of the all time soul classics and are joined at the festival by "The Brass Boys" horn section, with guest vocals from Becky Salmon.
